Surface

Laureates 2018-2019

Surface explores the transformation of acrobatic when the scene is covered with water. The practice of this discipline is challenged and the ambition is to find how to make partner acrobatics more personal, more singular by adapting individually and collectively to the new constraints: weight on a surface and slippery bodies, disturbances visual, etc.

Beyond the physical and aesthetic research around circus practice, the use of water on stage allows the performers to use their bodies to raise broader questions about the relationship of body with water, especially the vital need of this element and its force of action on bodies.
