Since 2002, circusnext has been involved in the emergence of innovative and unique artists. In 20 years, more than 100 companies and 1000 artists of 30 nationalities have been accompanied by circusnext. To celebrate this great journey and to look forward to the future and the opening of the Ferme Montsouris (Paris), circusnext is putting together its “20 Years” Season.
Part 1 – Spring off-site
This first part of the season features former circusnext supported artists at our partners’ venues or in public spaces (more dates to come):
• 31.05 – Barks Company/Bastien Dausse – MOON, cabinet de curiosités lunaires – Sainte Anne hospital, Paris (FREE)
Moon is a show imagined as a living and acrobatic exhibition. Like a cabinet of curiosities, Moon has been conceived as an accumulation of surprising antigravity devices, around which are imagined small forms of about ten minutes each. The public is invited to wander from one installation to another, like a guided tour in a museum.

With the students of the Ecole des Beaux Arts de Paris and the Fratellini Academy, 2020-2021 laureate Julian Vogel presents a masterclass restitution articulated around the artistic approach he develops for the creation of his China Series project. • 14&15.05 – Alexander Vantournhout – Screws, La Ferme du Buisson, Noisiel
As part of the Circus Week-End at La Ferme du Buisson, Alexander Vantournhout (laureate 2013-2014) will perform one of his most recent creations, Screws. Five dancer-acrobats guide you along a path of micro-performances that echo each other: solos, duets or sharp collective choreographies. The performers take the audience out of their comfortable sitting position and set them in motion – literally. Let yourself be carried away and choose the angle from which you want to see each of the mini-compositions.

Alexander Vantournhout – Through the Grapevine. The 2009-2010 laureate performs a duet with Axel Guérin. The two artists take us on a journey through an offbeat performance revisiting the classic pas de deux. With concentration, effort and humour, they play on their differences in morphology and strength. They help each other and challenge each other to discover their strengths and weaknesses, in an agile fluctuation between the one who leads and the one who is led.

Camille Boitel – Fissure. Laureate of the very first promotion in 2001-2002 with his company L’immédiat, Camille Boitel has created a piece based on the figure of the clown. In this tragi-comic one-man show, the clown’s obsession with security systematically transforms the safety objects that populate the stage into sources of danger. King of digression and debacle, nothing stops him. Not even his funny deaths, which tirelessly punctuate the uninterrupted ballet of his mistakes.

New events will be added to the “20 Years” Season program and will be announced soon!
