What is a lab?

circusnext Labs are collective work sessions intended to provide support to emerging circus authors in the development of their writings.

The participants in the European circusnext Labs are the authors pre-selected during the National Pre-Selections (1st step of circusnext’s annual selection process).

Each lab gathers 8 to 9 pre-selected authors from different countries and is facilitated by an experienced artist. The main goal of a Lab is to work collectively on each of the participants’ creation projects with a focus on circus writing and dramaturgy.

They are held every year between August and November in 6 different Platform Members venues throughout Europe.

A few figures

6 Labs per year at 6 Platform Members venues in Europe,
50 emerging circus artists supported each year,
10 days of collective work and 1 experienced mentor per Lab
